So there have been a few changes in my body lately... I figured since I haven't seen many of you in a while, I would post a picture of myself. The doctors say that this is temporary and that it will go back to normal after the transplant. I sure hope so. But if not you know that God does work in mysterious ways... Who knows, maybe I am destined to be in the circus or something. By the way, does anyone have the number to the Ringling Bros?
In all seriousness, there have been a few changes in my body lately. Well actually maybe it is just one. I AM LOOSING MY HAIR!! Now it may not seem like that big of a deal, but I want you to imagine that when you take off your sweatshirt after dialysis and look into the hood, all you see is hair. I'm not talking about a few stragglers, I'm saying that there is tons in there. Or when you run your fingers through your hair and then your hand is full of hair. It's pretty scary! The general censuses from doctors I have spoken to is, "Yeah, we hear that people on dialysis sometimes experience hair loss." ARE YOU KIDDING ME! You would think that because they call themselves doctors, that they may have a better explanation as to what is happening. One doctor, however, mentioned that he thinks that hair that is falling out is hair that was damaged when everything first started back in Feb. Finally, this makes more sense. Amy and I were having dinner with my parents last night and we were talking about this. Our theory is that when my body went through such a traumatic experience, certain things shut down. This included my hair. Now the old damaged follicles are falling out to make room for new ones. I hope we are right.
Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. I have a great reminder of this on my closet doors. I have put up all the stars that I have received from you. It has been a great encouragement to wake up and know that I am not alone during this time. This is what it looks like.
